[Solved] Trying to move an Expression Engine site to Wordpress, but not having luck with content

I can find a dozen or more ways of moving from MT to Drupal, but nothing vice versa. There's another module called importexportapi that appears to be in development, but the beta version I downloaded doesn't seem to play nicely with my Drupal installation. I'm at my wits' end and I'd rather like to finish this project without manually cutting and pasting hundreds of entries and comments.

If you have database access, you can probably write a SQL query that gets what you want, export that into CSV and write a script that parses it into a format that MT likes. Response by poster: Heh, thanks mphule.

I probably should clarify: I just barely know what I'm talking about above. I do, in fact, have SQL database access but anything beyond the most basic manipulations of it through a front-end of some sort is beyond my ken. Ditto script-writing and parsing and the hey-hey-oy-glavin!

Drupal 8: Import image files using Migrate Source CSV module

Thoughts and technical notes from the field. These are the things that go through my mind. This week I wanted to accomplish a task in Drupal 8 that would be simple in Drupal 7: Import several CSV files, each one related to the others by taxonomy terms. Most importantly, I wanted to do it with Migrate module.

Navigating to Content > Feeds > Add Feed, you will need to get a name to the importer, then locate the CSV file we're gong to upload. From there.

To migrate a website to Drupal 8 or 9 from earlier Drupal versions or even from another CMS, such as WordPress, you might consider using Drupal migration services. In this article, we want to review the Migrate API and describe its powerful features. Migration means extracting data from a certain source and using it to automatically create different components of your site. It makes it easier to import data from different locations and store them in Drupal. Drupal Migrate API is a powerful tool that doesn't restrict you to one or another source of data. In fact, Migrate API allows extracting data from any possible source.

Much of what I wanted to do was undocumented and confusing, but it worked well, once I figured it out. Hopefully, this will save someone a lot of time in the future. On the target site, I used Migrate from Drupal Core 8. You can access data from any entity by appending? Best standard fonts for web design

Google fonts are often mistaken as Web Safe Fonts. Google fonts are not pre-installed on a device, but hosted by Google. However, fonts served by the Google Fonts API are automatically compressed for a faster download, and once downloaded they are cached in the browser and reused by any other web page that uses the Google Fonts API.

So, even though they are not strictly speaking Web Safe fonts, they are still perfectly safe to use on your website and can help give it a more unique, creative look. You can browse and get inspired for your next project by visiting Google Fonts. Truth is, the list of Web Safe fonts is shorter than a designer would ideally wish for! Fortunately though, some of the most popular and well-designed ones are included. Arial is a classic Sans serif font, widely used for the past 30 years, thanks to its readability on both small and large texts.

Candara is a humanist Sans-serif typeface designed by Gary Munch and commissioned by Microsoft. A wide, clean and spacious font that can give your website a modern look. Its design is similar to circular fonts but still carries geometric characteristics common to the early 20th century typefaces.

Gill Sans is a humanist, Sans-serif typeface with a touch of modernity. This font has a handwritten quality that guides the eye horizontally which make it ideal for long passages. You can never go wrong with Helvetica. Impact is another Sans-serif font, great for drawing attention.

Elegant and highly visible, it has been used from road signs to beauty product logos. Segoe UI is a typeface, most known for its use by Microsoft. It has been used in many Microsoft products for user interface text and has been designed to assure consistency across different languages.

Trebuchet MS is another web safe Sans-serif font, designed and released by Microsoft Corporation in It is still one of the most popular body text fonts on the web.

American Typewriter is a Slab font, immitating typewriter text. Unlike other typewriter-inspired fonts, the design is proportional rather than monospaced, which makes it much more suitable for setting text.

Today, Copperplate Gothic enjoys a revival in corporate and advertising design, still imparting a look of serious business, both understated and posh. Didot is a neoclassical Serif font.

It carries a classic design but adds a modern twist to it. Known for its high contrast and sophisticated aesthetic, its a go-to for larger headlines, magazines and posters. Garamond is a classic font with timeless look and great readability. Even though it dates back to styles used in 16th century and has been mainly used in book design, we have no doubt it can add an antique nuance to a modern website or blog.

Georgia is another elegant Serif font, but was designed to be more readable at different font sizes than other Serif fonts. This happens thanks to its heavier weight, making this font an ideal candidate for mobile-responsive design.

Palatino is a Serif font that is also a part of the humanist typeface family, and it actually dates back to the Renaissance. Thanks to its solid structure, it is widely preferred for heading and titles. Eric Gill designed Perpetua at the beginning of the 20th century, based on designs of old engravings and memorial lettering.

All operating systems come prepackaged with it. As the name suggests, this font is a newer version of Courier, also part of the Monospace family, but carrying some similarities to Times New Roman. Its design is thinner and more visually appealing, which makes it look great on websites that need an old-school design but with a modern touch. Lucida Console is a Monospace font, part of the extended Lucida family. A great choice for small text sizes or low-resolution displays thanks to its legibility.

Web Safe Fonts are stored locally, so your website should load much faster. This means better speed and performance, which will positively impact your SEO efforts as page loading speed is one of the factors taken into account for page ranking.

What about Google Fonts? Arial Arial is a classic Sans serif font, widely used for the past 30 years, thanks to its readability on both small and large texts. Calibri Having replaced Times New Roman as the default Microsoft Word font, Calibri is an excellent option for a safe, universally readable Sans-serif font. Introduction to User Interface Design: 6 Important Principles

If you're an aspiring web designer, you've likely heard of the term UI before. But how is it different from UX, and what does it have to do with designing websites?

To answer these questions, let's start by defining what UI design is and why it's important. User interface design plays an important role in determining how people interact with a software product.

This will not only create a strong first impression, but it also keeps people coming back for more. As you can imagine, user retention is an important metric for any app or website, and UI design plays a huge role in boosting that figure. However, UI design isn't strictly about visuals.

In fact, there are three main types of UI design:. In this post, we'll be focusing on graphical user interfaces and how visuals contribute to the overall user experience of a software product. The terms UX and UI are often confused with one another. They both go hand-in-hand and there can be a bit of overlap in terms of what their roles are.

However, there are a few key distinctions between UX and UI that are important for designers to understand. The primary difference between UX and UI is that UI is focused on the look and feel of an interface, whereas UX encompasses the entire user experience. UX creates a strategic foundation for a product, and UI makes it beautiful.

UX requires research and brainstorming, whereas UI design is more surface-level. To create an effective software product or website, you need UX and UI to work together. That is, you need UX principles to build the foundation, and then UI design to make it pretty, accessible, and easy to use.

There are plenty of programs and online courses out there that teach you UI design, UX design, or a combination of the two. But while these skills are immensely valuable for web designers, there are several facets unique to web design that you won't learn in a UI or UX course.

As a UX or UI designer, also known as a product designer, you're tasked with creating interfaces for apps, which could be either mobile or web based or both. Therefore, you'll be working primarily with tech companies. As a web designer, on the other hand, you can work with any type of business because all businesses need websites. In general, web design offers more creative freedom than product design and it also involves digging deeper than just the user experience.

The best web designers are thinking about their clients' branding, positioning, and business goals in order to create high-value websites that produce measurable results, such as increased traffic, community growth, and revenue. Now that we've defined what user interface design is and how it's different from UX and web design, let's dive into the six essential principles of UI design.

The discrepancy is jarring, even for non-designers, and creates a disjointed experience that feels unprofessional. Creating consistency through colors and fonts may seem intuitive, but where some designers can trip up is in creating consistent layouts.

In other words, people shouldn't need any training in order to use an app, or especially to navigate a website. Before Tesla came along, controlling your car via a touch screen was unheard of. Tesla wouldn't sell nearly as many cars if they didn't put in the effort to develop an intuitive UI that anyone can figure out without consulting a heavy instruction manual.

People like to feel like they are in control of their actions. In the context of UI, this means designing an interface that minimizes confusion and empowers users to take specific actions. Comfort may sound like a strange principle for design; you're creating websites not cushions.

But in fact, comfort goes hand-in-hand with the other principles on this list, such as clarity and ease of use. There are many different factors that determine how comfortable an interface feels to a user; design, messaging, accessibility, and consistency all come into play.

If accessibility isn't already part of your web design process, read this post to learn how to design websites with accessibility in mind from the start. In this post, we reviewed what user interface design entails, compared it to UX design, and shared six important principles for effective UI design. We also discussed how UI and UX design relate to web design and why it's important to have a good grasp of the former in order to master the latter. Although UI and UX design are important skills for web designers, there's more to building high-value websites than mastery of these skills.

For instance, it's important to have a solid process for bringing websites to life that both look beautiful and provide value to the client.

It concerns the visual interfaces we see on our computers and handheld devices, such as websites and app screens.
