TNPS 2022 — Panel Three: Self-Directed, Peer-to-Peer and Collaborative Learning

Published
The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and Tote Board invite you to the third virtual panel discussion of the 2022 Transforming the Non-Profit Sector (TNPS) series.

We will explore the potential of self-directed, peer-to-peer and collaborative learning for the non-profit sector. We already recognise the usefulness of “communities of practice” made up of professionals, but can communities you serve benefit from this? Instead of relying solely on tutors, what if children, youth or seniors teach and learn from one another? We have tended to look towards formal training courses and workshops run by content experts as the main means of acquiring new skills and knowledge. What if we can unlock the collaborative learning capabilities of a community?

TNPS is a three-year partnership between IPS and Tote Board that aims to enhance the capabilities of non-profit organisations as well as support public-private-people partnerships. The theme for this year is “Solutions That Help Us Help One Another”, where we will highlight the often-neglected “impulse from the ground” and how non-profits can harness existing assets and consider new ways to help communities help themselves. We will examine how mutual aid, professional help and philanthropic giving can play mutually supportive and complementary roles in the non-profit sector to unlock the hidden potential and untapped capacities of communities.
