There are other Squarespace tutorials out there – but I wanted to create one that’s streamlined to first help you decide if this is for you, AND THEN get you started quickly, cut through some of the adv options you rarely use, and focus on the most valuable tools from a design standpoint.

If you’re a creative who’s not yet broken into web-design, but like the idea of it, this class is for you! Squarespace is fantastic platform for those wanting to dive straight into professional web design, minus the long learning curve of options like WordPress - Which I also use by the way! If you’re great at designing and creating, but don’t like the idea of coding; this option is for you.

You can create very impressive results with a minimum investment of time.

I’m Jason Miller, a Graphic & Web designer based in London. I have over 10 years experience, and have spent over 7 years working with both Squarespace and WordPress as platforms.

So this class is divided into 3 parts;

Firstly I’ll provide a comprehensive overview and answer FAQ I’m sure you must have; what is Squarespace? What are the pros and cons? How long will it take to become familiar enough to build websites? How much control / freedom do I have over the design?

After the first section, you’ll be in a position to decide if this is for you or not.

In the second section, I’ll give you a refined, streamlined tutorial on designing using Squarespace. We’re not going to cover what every menu option and setting does; I’m going to share only what you need to get creating asap. I’d recommend following along this section by creating your own trial site.

I’ll be creating a simple website for Evoke Brewery – a fictional brand I created in my last class.

Lastly, with an understanding of how Squarespace works, and having designed your own sample website – I’ll provide some tips, tricks and best practice from my experience creating with Squarespace.

And that’s it! The class project is to follow along and create your own Squarespace website using a free trial account.
