Session 82 -- Retouching a Portrait from Start to Finish with Stephen K Mack

Stephen K Mack is the artist behind Gnomist Photography based in New York. With a background in graphic design, computer animation, video production and web design — Stephen’s creativity and artistic approach to photography are reflected in his images that have been used in marketing and branding campaigns. Stephen is primarily a portrait photographer, but his assignments are widely varied and have included fashion, lifestyle, and event assignments.

In this presentation, "Retouching a Portrait from Start to Finish” Stephen walks us through his workflow on his current assignment with the prestigious Juilliard School.

Stephen presents a detailed step-by-step process for retouching a portrait and walks through the various methods used to correct skin texture and color issues using frequency separation and micro dodging and burning. He will also explain how to address problematic areas found in hair. Finally, Stephen will show the various techniques he use to color grade and refine a portrait to give a signature look and feel.
