Sector Hosted Session #2: Methods for Faecal Sludge Analysis

Published
INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION WITH THE EDITORS OF THE RECENTLY PUBLISHED BOOK METHODS FOR FAECAL SLUDGE ANALYSIS

The session provides an opportunity to have an interactive discussion with the editors of the recently published book Methods for Faecal Sludge Analysis and learn more about this publication.

The book presents background information on types of faecal sludge, methods for sample collection, health and safety procedures for handling, case studies of experimental design, an approach for estimating faecal sludge at community to city-wide scales, modelling containment and treatment processes, recipes for simulants, and laboratory methods for faecal sludge analysis currently in use by faecal sludge laboratories. This book will be beneficial for researchers, laboratory technicians, academics, students and sanitation practitioners.

This book is the product of a collaborative effort between a number of leading organisations in the FSM sector (UKZN, IHE Delft, Eawag and AIT) in addition to an international group of editors, authors, contributors and reviewers. The book is also embedded in the frameworks of the Global Sanitation Graduate School and the Global Partnership of Laboratories for Faecal Sludge Analysis. The development of the book was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The eBook version is open access https://doi.org/10.2166/9781780409122)
