How I Use Google Trends to Beat my Competitors

Published
Google Trends is a useful tool that helps you understand your target audience within your niche.

You can use this tool to see if there's enough interest to make the niche worth getting into,

You can also see trending topics within the niche that you can use for new articles or YouTube videos, or maybe even create your own product around these things.

If you're not using Google trends yet you're missing out on a lot of valuable information that you can use to get a leg up on your competitors.

I always use Google trends when I'm starting a new blog to help narrow down my niche choice.

Miles Beckler created a similar video on this topic, and he compared three different similar niches.

Vegan Dog food, vegan cat food, and just vegan pet food in general.

You would think the more broad topic would have the most search volume, so going vegan pet food should be a no-brainer right? ... Wrong

Vegan dog food, surprisingly, had an overwhelmingly larger audience than vegan pet food and vegan cat food.

With this information, you know you will get more traffic if you create a blog all around vegan dog food rather than branching out to all pets.

Google trends can help with your content creation and marketing.

For example, Miles Beckler shows a really good example with different types of diets.

As you probably could've guessed, there's a huge spike in search volume at the beginning of every year. The time when everyone is posting their New Year's resolutions on social media, and the gyms are slam-packed full.

With this information you know around this time is a great time to post content all around dieting plans, workout routines, or even a course on one of these topics.

This is just an example and can really work with any niche.

I use Google trends all the time, usually, when I'm starting a new website, or to get an idea of what my audience for one of my existing websites is looking for so I can create more content around that topic.
