Fintech in Rwanda Webinar (31-03-2022)

Published
The fintech sector in Rwanda is rapidly developing. The Government of Rwanda clearly stated its ambitions in the field of fintech through various national-level policy frameworks such as the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and the Rwanda Payment System Strategy. Amongst others, the government is pushing for a favourable regulatory environment to support and attract existing and new fintech businesses and has the ambition to become a financial hub for the region. The enabling environment is developing through associations such as the Rwanda Fintech Association, incubator programs such as the Fintech Hub, and through the work of other organizations such as the ICT Chamber and the Kigali International Financial Center (KIFC).

At TRAIDE, we believe that this growing sector could provide a number of opportunities for (Dutch) businesses and organizations active in the fintech sector. To shed light on developments in the sector, we organized a webinar on Thursday March 31st at 10:00 CEST/CAT. During this webinar, we discussed trends and developments from the perspectives of the public and private sector and highlight Dutch and local businesses who are already active in the Rwandan fintech sector.

Speakers:

Opening speech by Matthijs Wolters, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Rwanda

- Jeremy Gray, Resilience Lead at Cenfri

- Alex Ntale, CEO of Rwandan ICT Chamber

- Mark van der Zanden, CEO of Simbuka

- Olivier Mugabonake, CEO of ADFinance and Chair of Rwandan Fintech Association
