Designing observing systems for ocean boundaries [OOPC - Satellite Laboratory for UN Ocean Decade]

OOPC Boundary System Task Team (BSTT) will report on its recent progress in reviewing observing systems at oceanic boundaries. Following a short presentation by the BSTT team, 3 presentations on recent advances in satellite oceanography and their application at the ocean / coast boundary will be given. A discussion will then be encouraged between all the participants. Some of the themes envisaged for the discussion include sharing knowledge on lessons learnt when establishing observing systems at ocean boundaries, the sustainability of the observing systems and ways in which to strengthen our partnerships across-networks (blue and brown water/in situ and remotely sensed, scientists / stakeholders.
