See the first comment of the Ta"z below who notes that many people make the mistake of wearing their tefillin on their foreheads. And the Biur Halakha adds that the tefillin should not be too big because they can't breach the area that was once upon a time the soft spot on a baby's head. Please enlighten me. It has been some time since I put pen to paper or, rather, fingertips to keyboard and contributed to the blog.

Indeed, it has been two years since I last logged on to The Inquisitive Beastie. And a lot has occurred in my life in those two years. I walked my mother down the aisle and I gained a father figure in my life. I hiked along the Great Wall of China. I crashed a car into a motorway barrier at eighty miles per hour and walked away.

I got a new job. I was offered the opportunity to study in Sweden, and turned it down. I made new friends. I lost touch with old friends. I participated in democracy. I climbed mountains and cycled until I could barely turn my legs. I have bought several hundred flat whites. I proudly changed my name. My life has been ordinarily remarkable: I have been living the average life of the average graduate in their early!

There have been momentous highs and incredible lows. In the last two years, I feel I have hardly changed at all, but yet at the same time I feel I have changed profoundly.

On the cusp of turning twenty five, I am attempting to determine what I shall do in the next two years and who I shall become in the next five. Some big decisions are to be made. But I am excited! In relaunching this blog, I hope to comment on events in my life, past and present, and the world around me. Subjects shall include the remarkable and the trivial; the joyous and the melancholic.

I shall write on matters which peake my interest and share some previous writings. Perhaps somewhat selfishly, I shall be writing purely for my own pleasure, but I do hope you enjoy it.

Basement Life

After a tragedy strikes we often remember where we were when we heard the news. The attack at Westminster last Wednesday seemed to shake something in many of us. Yet in such times of tragedy we often seem to see moments of extreme goodness too. He ran directly towards the danger, sharing in the agony and letting himself be covered with the marks of suffering as he knelt beside the broken man in the hope of saving him. When I see that, I cannot help but be reminded of another: one who saw a hurting world and ran right towards it, rather than turning away.

About the author:. Review of the latest novel in the series-I Know A Secret. I am not much of TV person mainly because my husband and I have very different taste in what we like to watch on TV. He likes anything about vintage cars and movies with mobsters, which is not my cup of tea, so he watches TV and I work on the computer. I guess it is not much different than wanting to understand the psychology into what makes someone a serial killer, which of course is the focus of many of the thrillers that I read and review. In fact, the first book in the series, The Surgeon , is all about finding a serial killer nicknamed the surgeon, and I will let you use your imagination to figure out why. Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles are the main protagonists in the series.

I must stop forgetting this brain-dump zone exists! So anyway, I was rummaging for something in my spare room the other day and unearthed a treasure trove of other random things. Indeed, some so extensive that a fairly ruthless pruning of said artefacts took place awaiting the next bin collection day. I really used to be an overly-sentimental twat. But amongst the assorted things I found one was really intriguing — fond reminiscing and sadness all merged into one, and a warning for the future. Reading between the lines and with the benefit of both hindsight and a couple of decades of built-up life experience and cynicism was really interesting.

The final Calvin and Hobbes strip has Calvin and Hobbes looking out over a hillside freshly filled with snow. The World looks brand-new…like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on! A clean state. When I first started the blog in , I wanted to document my journey to becoming a professional writer as well as write book reviews.

There are good arguments to believe that a timeless, spaceless, immaterial, enormously powerful being exists whose very nature is the foundation for morality. Now, having arrived that Jesus is God, we can see in his biographies that he seemed to have an extremely high view of the Hebrew Bible, likely having it memorized. Jesus also commissioned the Apostles to be the leaders of the church, putting his trust in their writings too. I trust the Biblical authors because Jesus trusted them. That might be a surprising statement for some. Evangelicals have some of the highest views of the Bible out there. Let me explain what I mean with an example.

The content of the tweet RealDonaldTrump posted on the night of Feb. He did recall that Trump had been spending a lot of time in his office lately playing around with a new Android smartphone. At the time, no one — not even McConney himself — could grasp what was to come. McConney jumped at the chance.
