Again, this method can be overcome by installing a browser plugin that will allow the download of a streamed video.

Forum Post Assistant - If you are serious about wanting help, you will use this tool to help you post. I bought a book to learn about creating sites with Joomla, and in the book there is a screenshot of an article and one of the buttons in the article is an insert media button it looks like a film reel. However, on my Joomla control panel there is only an insert image button, but no insert video media button. I have Joomla version 1. Does anyone know how to insert a video clip into an article without embedding like [youtube]?

I have several videos on my PC and I would like to upload those. I realize I have to use an FTP to get them into the folder, however, if there is no insert media button, how do I get the video into my articles?

Thanks in advance. I use it for a lot of Joomla sites. Works great! Thanks very much for the reply. Yes, I downloaded the AllVideos plug-in and installed it into my Cpanel. Then, I went into the plug-in manager and enabled it. However, when I create or attempt to modify an article, there is still no button or link to use it or to insert a video clip. I am pretty sure that I am just doing something wrong, but I do know that I installed and enabled it.

The assistance is much appreciated! Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by tessak22 » Tue Sep 08, pm No everything is correct, you just need to read the instructions on how to insert a video. Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by flames » Tue Sep 08, pm Ooooh, now this makes sense.

I have that article and was confused about the information being provided. So basically, I can upload my videos via FTP into a folder i. Now it makes sense. Thanks so much for your help. I never would have figured this out, even if it really was that easy. Glad I can be of assistance! I was able to figure out how to put a video clip into my articles.

However, when I press the play button in the window, it does not play. After pressing the play button, the player will "think" for about 2 seconds and then nothing happens. I know that I uploaded the video correctly via FTP. This is what the AllVideos documentation had suggested, so I did what it had instructed. Any ideas on why the video is not playing? Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by flames » Wed Sep 09, pm I forgot to mention, if you'd like to see the site, to test the video, and see what I am referring to, go to www.

When you press the video play button, nothing really happens. Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by tessak22 » Wed Sep 09, pm Hmm its gotta be something with the video version or location. Is it the write format? I uploaded two videos and made sure they were short 3 minutes each. They are both in. When the first clip did not work, I decided to upload the second video clip to ensure that the first clip was not the issue.

I honestly do not know what else to do. Unfortunately, I am a beginner with Joomla and do not know enough to come up with alternative solutions. Thanks for your help. Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by flames » Thu Sep 10, am Oh yeah, I wanted to mention that when I first view the video clip, I am asked to install Microsoft Silverlight.

I viewed this on two different machines and I was prompted to install Silverlight both times. Is this normal? Would that have anything to do with the issues I suspect it does not? Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by tessak22 » Thu Sep 10, am Yes that is normal if you do your own videos, did you install it?

Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by flames » Thu Sep 10, pm Yes, I installed it on both machines. After the install, the video screen appears with the play button in the middle of the screen. However, when I click it nothing happens. Try the [youtube] option, it works great.

I am at my wits end trying to figure that out. My only issue with the [youtube] option is that some of my videos are fairly large. I just have to go to [youtube] and find out what the max MB that I can upload at one time.

Thanks for all your help! Re: How to insert a video clip into my Joomla article Post by artturo » Fri Nov 06, pm i had the same problem i resolved it by converting avi to wmv video and it worked perfectly My videos r already in. For the life of me I still can't get them to work.
