5 Steps to Creating a UX-Design Portfolio

Dear designers, I had 1. Now I am at the last semester of my postgraduate studies so I am starting to seek a new job. I just launched my portfolio website through Adobe Portfolio. You are welcome to give me any feedback and suggestion. Yeah I mean, being new to the industry, it looks like a fairly good impression of a portfolio, but I don't see a lot of you in there, which is what's going to be your biggest selling point so early on.

I'd pay attention to your contrast ratios some text is very hard to read and maybe reconsider all the "sideways iPhone in-hand" glamour shots pretty dated IMO.

If you're interviewing with SR. This isn't a website, it's a bunch of linked images. Have you tried looking at the portfolio pages on mobile? The text is tiny and unreadable. You may want to look at telling more about the projects instead of just showing screenshots of mockups. Tell me the story. Also looking at your resume, I don't see any work on your portfolio from the jobs you've done? Those would be much more valuable pieces than a WhatsApp redesign.

Hi Rachel, nice initiative! I agree with the previous comments. I would suggest you to use something like notion to do your portfolio for now. It's flexible enough with enough features to allow you to create something nice, I know adobe portfolio can be quite limited.

Overall I think the portfolio is a good start showcasing some of the work you have done. Some feedback:. Let you work be the highlight vs. The arrow that points to your work feels unnecessary. The Kite App Website feels more like a marketing page than a detailed look into the work you did. It feels more like a list of features.

Would love to hear more the problem you were trying to solve and how you approached it. Some of the text is really hard to read like on the WhatsApp page. Would consider taking the text outside of the images or increasing the size. Thanks for those comments. They are very useful. I also feel there are several drawbacks on the website layout but the thing is that the website is created by Adobe Portfolio, which does not support so many customized design on the layout, and it does not support to edit the mobile platform display.

It just automatically converts the website to a fixed mobile version. I did participate in the whole creative process and draw a set of illustration for the app but did not get the chance to design the UI pattern and decide the UX flow etc. I am wondering how can I show my experience and problem-solving skill about this project?

I agree with the comments listed here. I would also try to figure out a way to minimize the blue header section and only display it on one page since it feels a bit redundant. Recruiters will be interested in your work and you currently have to scroll down to get to that section. I'd almost place your past projects front and center when the website is loaded. Hi Rachel, I really like your work, but as Steven said, it lacks something a bit more personal. Maybe a picture of you, or some text talking about yourself.

Also, you might want someone to review the grammar in your text, just so it feels more professional.
